Mission DNC: Wisdom Cries Out

Our family was privileged, along with many other bold Christians, to be able to expose the evil that saturates our nation, while sharing the hope of the Good News of Jesus with tens of thousands who attended the Democratic National Convention in our home town of Charlotte, NC.

Throughout this week of ministry and proclamation of Truth, we witnessed Democrats secretly give us a thumbs-up for being out there. We saw people cringe in shock and sometimes look on in disbelief when coming to the realization of what “choice” really is. Many of us had conversations with those who supported the President and his stance on abortion, explaining boldly why God is against those who seek to shed innocent blood. Media interviews were given, not only locally and nationally, but also internationally. Attendees heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Wisdom and Truth were preached from the busy street corners in Charlotte!

Christians boldly and calmly stood for life when being screamed at by the Occupy Wall Street ruffians. These people are so controlled by their sin and consumed with abhorrence for everyone that their stench of sin exuded from their souls to their physical bodies. The pungency could be smelled long before they even approached us.

"Fundie children, come with us."

One particular group of “Occupiers” encompassed us, chanting things such as, “Just do your best. You’re doing great.” To our children they chanted, “Fundie (Fundamentalist) children, come with us”. They dressed as a devil and angels, acting like lunatics.

The Occupiers did not only congregate to spew hatred in groups, but they also dispersed among us, one-by-one, so as to loudly debate our Biblical beliefs. Ethan (11) was able to share the Gospel and engage in a debate with one such man who was bussed in from Oakland for the DNC. He left hearing the truth, though remaining firm in his sin.

One conversation appeared to be utterly fruitless, but all along God was working behind the scenes. Mark and I listened to one woman rant on and on about why the murder of millions of unborn babies is acceptable. The attempt to reason with her was utterly useless, because all she really wanted to do was to hear herself talk. We attempted to walk away from this woman multiple times, but she kept following us around, loudly vocalizing her faulty and unbiblical beliefs. This became annoying, but after a while God allowed me to see why He sent her to ramble, curse and yell and why He sent her back again and again to harass us. It was because of Steven!

Steven was a precious 11 year old young man who was that woman's friend's child. While she was arguing and yelling at others, I was able to have a wonderful conversation with him. When he first approached me, he urged me not to continue to talk with his mother’s friend because “she was mean”. He then asked me what had happened to the babies on our signs (Malachi, aborted at 21 weeks as a result of a D&E abortion, and Rowan, aborted at 22 weeks and delivered alive into a toilet). I explained gently, but truthfully about how those babies had been legally murdered.

In the course of our conversation, he shared that he had accepted Jesus as his Savior and had a Bible at home. He then assured me that when Barack Obama found out what was happening to these babies, he would put an end to abortion forever. I explained how Obama acted to keep abortion and infanticide legal in the U.S. This precious child was shocked, and immediately changed his views on whom he wanted to win the election. By simply knowing the truth of abortion and the pro-death view of Obama, he came to the conclusion that Obama should not be reelected. Was his decision racist because he did not want this African-American man (much like himself in appearance) to be reelected as President? No. It was because he knew the simple truth of what this man stood for, and he saw that stance as being evil.

After this conversation with Steven had ended and that woman finally left us all alone, I realized that the Lord used that woman’s pride and love for contention to distract her so that this little boy could hear the truth about abortion and the hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

The DNC provided innumerable opportunities to preach the Gospel and confront sin. The truth of the message we were delivering was also able to be preached via media outlets. On one occasion, Flip was not only able to proclaim the truth by answering questions, but he was also able to openly rebuke the sinful underpinnings of one particular reporter from the United Kingdom. This reporter walked away having not only having heard the clear truth, but also having been chastised for his own wicked beliefs.

Later in the week, we were given by God the precious opportunity to pray over people who came to speak to us during the week. I was able to pray over one lady who spent 20 minutes attempting to justify her reasons for aborting her child 30 years prior. In that prayer, while holding her hand, I prayed that God would soften her heart, open her eyes to see that abortion is murder and that she would soon realize her desperate need for Jesus to be the Lord of her life.

Brooke and my daughter, Annalise, were able to pray over a woman who thanked us all for being out there displaying the graphic realities of abortion. This woman, being visibly grieved, shared that she had aborted her child many years before, after becoming pregnant as the result of a violent rape.

So, not only was the Gospel preached on the street corner, through one-on-one conversations and via media outlets, but the Gospel was also prayed over post-abortive women - one who attempted to justify her abortion and one who grieved over the murder of her precious baby boy. Though we do not know if our prayers were used to soften the hearts of others we prayed over, we are now seeing the fruit from praying over the lady who aborted as a result of being raped. She has contacted us since then and is now is interested in ministering to other abortion-determined mamas at a Charlotte abortion mill.

Overall, this week of ministry was highly successful when viewed through spiritual lenses. Though we are not able to view everything that God did and is doing behind the scenes as a result from this week of ministry, we were privileged to expose the murder, sin and lies that the Democrat Party has made as its foundation! We were privileged to be able to proclaim the only HOPE that can be found by surrendering to Jesus! We were privileged to be the “voices of wisdom” calling aloud in the public square, from the noisy street and at the city gate!

Wisdom’s Rebuke

Proverbs 1:20-33

Wisdom shouts in the street, She lifts her voice in the square; At the head of the noisy streets she cries out; At the entrance of the gates in the city she utters her sayings:

“How long, O naive ones, will you love being simple-minded? And scoffers delight themselves in scoffing And fools hate knowledge?

“Turn to my reproof, Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you.

“Because I called and you refused, I stretched out my hand and no one paid attention; And you neglected all my counsel And did not want my reproof; I will also laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your dread comes, When your dread comes like a storm And your calamity comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you.

“Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently but they will not find me, Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the Lord.

“They would not accept my counsel, They spurned all my reproof.

“So they shall eat of the fruit of their own way And be satiated with their own devices.

“For the waywardness of the naive will kill them, And the complacency of fools will destroy them.

“But he who listens to me shall live securely And will be at ease from the dread of evil.”
